This seems like a pretty specialized use case. I will keep it in my mind when I finally do consider anonymous posting in the future.

Hi All,

Firstly Crispy - the endless hours you must spend on the Forums is definitely appreciated (I'd like to say you will be rewarded but it's an open-source proj. so I cant ;)

Anyway, just my 2 cents on the Anon-posting. I did not think this would be useful at first, BUT after experiencing first-hand how hard it is to grow a Forum community on PokerDIY, I think this feature would really kickstart struggling Forums. It is probably less useful for established communities, but would go a long way for people who are browsing your site and want to say something, and then they get hooked and join...

Just a thought - thanks for hard work again!

Thanks for the kind words Rodney. Overall I feel I have been rewarded with the opportunity to co-author two books and a couple magazine articles. Plus, I get a module I always need that I can depend on. I cannot stress how flexible the next release will be, but I think the days of critical bugs is about to come to an end and the door will be open to integration with other modules. (Bugs happen, but I think the term critical is the important thing to take from this)

To clarify, I am not against anon posting but I did not see the use case myself before. As time has gone on, others have showed me some good examples. However, I am testing huge permission changes around this module and I cannot include this in the next release (anonymous posting). Once I know the module is solid using the new permission methods (See my blog for details, its very grid like and intuitive) then it will be possible to work this in as a future enhancement. I have already marked places in the code via comments where things have to change.

Great, it sounds like you have things under control - as a developer I can appreciate inheriting someone else's code and how tricky it can be! I also think sometimes that multiple developers on a single module might be quite tricky to manage, although possibly with complex modules like this it could be partitioned into different areas relatively easy without stepping on each others code. It's justing finding someone that understand the code as well as you do I guess...

Anon posting - yes, I have also begun to adopt the module perms manner of security - very cool!

Hi,

just one more use case for your consideration. I am developing a moving related website, my visitors are people that look for moving company. Many people have bad experiences with different movers and would definitelly like to share their stories, advices etc. The problem is that in US an average person moves once in 5-7 years, so its not worth registering. The fact that annonymous posting is not available is ONLY the reason why I cannot use Forum, which would be very very useful...

Thanks for your hard work, you saved me tremendous amount of time in developing my business.

Yakov.
