Hi,

I want to upgrade from 4.8.4. to 4.9.0.
Do I have to edit the config.web ?
Or can I just copy all the files to the server.

With regards, Ton Hermes

You should be able to copy the UPDATE package over your existing web directory, then browse to the site to upgrade it.

Some common sense precautions, though:

  • Backup the website directory AND database before starting.
  • Make a second set of copies
  • Edit your web.config to set autoupgrage to false

Then, after copying the UPDATE package, browe to your website.  You'll get the install/UnderConstruction.htm page.  Browse to install/install.aspx to trigger the upgrade.  That should do it.

Note that I've seen an error message on occasion after upgrading a site to 4.9.0.  Ignore it and rebrowse to the site.  All should be well.

My understanding is that this works for 4.6.2 installations and later versions.
