My site is hosted on GoDaddy and I have been very pleased with it but when I did the install 4.8.2 was available and GoDaddy only installed 4.8.0.  I want to upgrade now to 4.9.0 but a bit nervous about it.  I have done several upgrades on our servers at work for out local intranet and those are easy, plus I have direct access to the root directory as well as the SQL database and server.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Well I took a chance and just did what I thought would work and it did.

Here were the steps I took.

Of course created a back-up of my database (through the godaddy interface)
Copied the current site files to my pc via ftp
Unzipped the 4.9.0 upgrade package to my pc
Copied the upgrade site files to the website via ftp
Modified the release.config to have my connection strings as well as the maching keys and renamed to web.config and copied it to the website via ftp
Naviated to my website and watched the database scripts execute.

Worked perfect!
