A new version of MagicContent, the powerful replacement for the Text/HTML module has been released today. This maintenance release fixes issues logged in the project bugtracker and adds DAL+ support.

This will be the last release of MagicContent the way people know it. The next version will focus on complete integration with the EALO suite by Effority.Net, also hosted on the Codeplex plattform.

Even today you can already use MagicContent together with the EALO suite - only a shared database layer is yet to be completed for upcoming release.

Get your site multilingual ready today and choose MagicContent together with EALO page localization to get your site ready for international visitors!

MagicContent and Ealo are both OpenSource projects.

Thanks to everyone in the community for the ongoing support of MagicContent! With a download rate of over 1400 downloads MagicContent is listed on the DotNetNuke forge now on page 1 - let's keep it there!

MagicContent is a multi-lingual content publishing module that can be used as a replacement for the current Text/HTML module. It's very easy to use and extends content publishing by many useful features.

  • Tabbed Editmode - shows one richtext editor tab for each supported portal locale - no postback but true DHTML
  • One-Click Publishing of content - thanks to moving all advanced options to their special tabs publishing common content in the portal locale is now a quick and easy process and can be worked with just as with the standard Html module
  • Support for multilingual module titles - without the need to go on the module settings page the module titel can be customized for any supported locale, the module title can now be edited from within each locale tab
  • Statistics Support - if enabled from within the advanced tab the module will display a note below the content stating the most recent update date and / or updating author
  • Role based content - allows for publishing based on the role of the current user. Content can be sorted by priority. Learn more
  • Extended replacement token support - Support for Portaltitle, Portal Description, Portal E-Mail, this feature has been built in long before the core supported replacement tokens. dot.Publish will, sooner or later, support the core replacement engine as well. The nice thing about the built in system is that you may as well use a few personalized tokens based on the time of day (things like good morning or so) See a full list of supported tokens
  • Newsletter mode - there is a special newsletter tab that can be used to send the content of the module via e-mail to selected security roles - of course in the locale of the recipients account!

I had hoped, and thought it was ok for FireFox now... but I'm still having trouble.  The tabs work in this version... but not with the update button!  It seems the update works first before choosing a tab but not after?

I must be doing something wrong but I cannot get the Newsletter feature to work.  I have created a test, went to Advanced Options and saved content for All Visitors.  Then selected the Newsletter tab, checked 2 groups each containing 3 accounts and "Send Newsletter".

As a host, admin, and registered user in both groups selected for the newsletter I only receive the email below.

Newsletter Operation Status

Operation started: 11/5/2008 9:43:42 AM

E-Mail Recipients: 0

E-Mail Messages: 0

E-Mail Locale: English

Operation completed: en-US

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Could you please log the issue in the tracker over at the codeplex project? I'll try to reproduce the problem sometime next week then. To be honest, I haven't touched (and used) that feature for while.
