I understand there is an automated upgrade from from DotNetNuke 3.X to 4.9.0.  So what I need to download is the Upgrade Package, is that correct?

The reason why I am upgrading is because we went to IE7 and the text/html modules do not work properly and we are planning on eventually going to SQL2005.

Does anyone have any tutorials or documentation that will help me with any of this?  The site I am upgrading does not have any custom code and uses Child portals.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kelly, the first thing I would recommend is backing everything up, your database and files.

You'll most likely have to upgrade in steps, from 3.0.13 to 3.3.7 to 4.4.0 and then 4.9.0, though I haven't completed an upgrade from that old of a version in quite a while it might require some different steps. Check out www.mitchelsellers.com I believe he's got some upgrade tutorial blog posts there. You WON'T be using the UPGRADE package for any of this.

Once you are on 4.6.2 or higher, than using the UPGRADE package will make things easier, but I would recommend sticking with the INSTALL package for your upgrades this time around.
