I had a running portal on machine 'A'. I backup everything (Database as well as portal files).

Now... I copied all the files to another machine 'B' and also create a new Database with same name and restored the older backup.

Doing this, I am not able to run the portal on machine 'B'. It gives error like "Page cannot be displayed".

I changed the portal alias in Database, and now It run the portal, but I am not able to login. It say some "Invalid password" kinda messege.

What to do If an existing portal has to shift on another machine.

What measurements would be taken? OR Steps to keep in mind?

Make your user and password used in the web config have been added to SQL Server. When you restore the database, 'userx' and 'passwordy' will not work. You'll have to make sure to add that Login and then give the login rights to the database.
