I am thinking of a simple addition to the DNN menu that would make it much more functional as a Web 2.0 trends with Block Navigational approach.

I am currently more and more being asked to design with this approach in mind. Currently I cannot think of any custom or core menu that can deliver this.
However, the core currently allows for an icon to appear on the left of the menu item. I am thinking what would it take for us to be able to control the position of the icon.

for example to be able to set it in the front. Or perhaps under the menu item or above. I think that would allow us to do much of the following designs

Currenlty I am having to do away with menu systems all together and hard code this kind of menu designs.

Salar,

Thanks for the link. WRT the block menu approach, you can realize it with Snapsis nav manu. The problem is: which page field do you (mis)use to specify the block text as the length of the pagename field is limited, and you probably don't want to use the title.
