Hi

prior to 3.05 I was using Digg and Yahoo! buzz code below to provide social bookmarking (via the metaPost footer template). Since the blog URL changed after I regenerated all permalinks, I loose all the buzz counts (and digg counts).

              <script type="text/javascript">

yahooBuzzArticleType = "text";
yahooBuzzArticleId = window.location.href;
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
badgetype="square">
ARTICLEURL
</script></td>

Sigh! I guess there is no way to get the counts back! But, is there a better way to ensure this doesn't happen again from here onwards? Is there a token I can use instead of window.location.href?

Hi Subodh,

Unique URLs where introduced for SEO purposes. This means that when the entry is updated, and the title is changed, all the changes are reflected in the URL after the permalink regeneration. I am not very good in JavaScript, but you can try to parse the address and retrieve only the unique parameters that point to the selected entry. For example having this window.location.href:

http://www.mydomain.com/Blogs/tabid/55/EntryId/156/Title-of-the-entry.aspx

You can build the address:

http://www.mydomain.com/Blogs/tabid/55/Default.aspx?EntryId=2

that will always point to your entry, disregarding title changes. I hope this will help.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
