Hello, Newbie to DNN and I've been browsing several different hosting plans. It seems as though there is a big difference in one plan to the next. And of course I know some of this is going to depend on how big my site is how many registered users I have etc,

First let start w/ SQL Data Bases, do I need MSSQL Or My SQL. and what is stored in the DB (user profiles, events, etc)

Next is Disk Space What is stored in the disk space, I am assuming that would be each page or CSS for my site. maybe pictures?

several hosting plans include more than 1 data base, why would i need more than 1 db? Could I assign the users to 1 DB, Events to another Db, Forum to another?

It just seems that all hosting companies are not in line w/ there #'s

some offer unlimited Bandwidth, and disk space and 3x200 Mb data base?

Just don't know which way to go,

tcse,

you need Microsoft SQL Server, at least free Express version.

all content (except files) of your web site is stored in the database, but you only need a single one.

you should have at least 500 mb database space,  MB diskspace and 500 MB RAM, depending on the modules used, portal size and numbers of visitors.

a typical DNN site runs fine with a 50 DB database (of course, depending on the modules and the number of users)
