I purchased ASPDNSF ML/DNN 20 months ago for three reasons: DotNetNuke, DotNetNuke Marketplace and VISA PAPB compliance. To this day, I have not been able to get it working properly or reliably even with the source code. It is just one problem after another.

Condescending tech support is an understatement. Just read the forums to see the attitudes of the ASPDNSF staff. I have never seen so much finger pointing by any support team.

Yesterday I posted an issue and was told to issue a support ticket. I did so and discovered my forum thread was deleted within hours.  It exposed a flaw with DNN integration with a security related side effect. In my support ticket I explained how to reproduce the disclosure in simple steps only to be told not to do so.

The staff really need to lighten up and understand the people who are attempting to use their product are trying to help them as well.

Do not be teased by the marketing efforts either.  You will not find DotNetNuke or DNN in any testimonial on the DNN marketplace. From what I have gathered from the forums I can only find a handful of live ML/DNN sites other than marketplace.dotenetnuke.com (Note that the product review feature on marketplace does not seem to work.)

Announced September 26, 2006

As of November 2008, the currently available version of ASPDNSF (7.1.0.1) simply does not work out of the box with any version of DotNetNuke.

Personally, I have not given up with ASPDNSF ML/DNN. Please feel free to change my opinion. In fact, I would like nothing better.

Dwayne, I feel your pain.... I FEEL it.  We've purchase about 20 ML's over the last 2+ years.  Only 1 DNN/ML... Never worked right... so I"ve been extremely hesitant to even attempt e-commerce with DNN.

I love DNN to the fullest don't get me wrong... and I know there are products out there (catalook) but it's not very intuitive for a client to understand... the DNN training takes a few training sessions to begin to click for most clients.

ASPDNSF isnt' too difficult to learn, and is pretty simple to skin... it just makes sense... but the "support" is grade "D-" at best.  I've been on an issue of an upgrade from 7.0.2.3 to 7.0.2.5 that is "suppose" to work.... but it's not working.  I've had this ticket open for over a week, and now they tell me I need to purchase more support?  For an upgrade I'm already allowed?  This after  1 reply a day telling me to try things that are stated in their KB articles or the forums.....  I myself am open to other solutions, but I haven't found anything quite as nice.  Let's face it, when the product works, it's great!  I've run into situations (support) like this for about 15-25% of my clients... and when it's bad.... it HORRIBLE!!  But then they do something that makes you feel good.   I just don't know...

It's like dating a stupid hot chick... fun for a bit.

I'm with Dwayne - please change my opionion too!  Tell us there's a light ahead (that's not death)!

I feel your pain as well.

Here is a letter I wrote to George Solomon - a director of marketing at ASPDNSF.  I didn't get a reply.  I'd love this product to work, but it doesn't.  My plan now is to tear down our ASPDNSF implementation and install Catalook :-(

I'll let you know if George ever finds the time, or courage, to respond.

Hi George,

My firm has been struggling the the DNN version of ASPDNSF for several months.  As you must know, the initial release was very buggy and has caused much misery and heart ache.

PowerDNN first installed a version on a client's DNN portal and we had many, many time consuming problems.  Some highlights:
- ASPDNSF permissions got out of synch with DNN's.  Administrators and Host accounts suddenly were unable to access the ASPDNSF admin UI.  After a few weeks of PowerDNN saying "we have no idea - you'll have to contact ASPDNSF" and ASPDNSF support staff telling us "PowerDNN is the reseller, so they will have to fix it" the  ASPDNSF staff did risk a professional opinion and told use to completely uninstall and re-install.  Which we did and had to reinstall all our products.
- Then we tried to update from 4.9.0 to 4.9.1 and got Storefront SQL proc conflicts!  This is a very minor upgrade.  It gives me little confidence in your product.  You support team told us, Storefront only works well when there are no other third party modules installed on the DNN site.  Funny, I missed that in your sales literature.  This is unheard of.  My company develops DNN modules and I personally this is just another way for your staff to pass the buck.  They also glibly told us, you'll just have to uninstall and reinstall again.  Have a nice day :-)

So we moved the client site to our own Dedicated Server and had the license transferred directly to us, so that we could deal with  ASPDNSF support team directly.
- As you know, the documentation is poor.  After a few days trying to get PayPal payment gateway, we had to buy an incident just so that someone could tell us in an email what should have been explained in the documentation.
- Then we had a problem with Canadian provinces.  Select one and the entire page refreshes and loses all the date the client has enter into the form.  We had to get a new dll to fix that.
 - Now we have a problem with the States drop down and are now told we need to pay $700 to upgrade to the new version.
- AND we still can't upgrade to 4.9.1 even on our own server  :-(

Even with these problems, my client's site went live this week:  www.investinkids.ca   After waiting on the ASPDNSF eCommerce for weeks the client could not wait any longer.

In summary
- you knowingly delivered a buggy product, that never works and now we have to pay $700 to get the new version (who knows if it is going to work?)
- you ship pathetic documentation and we have to pay $100 for support "clarifications"

The DNN community is outraged over the poor quality of product you deliver and the poor documentation and the predatory support policies that require we pay and pay and pay just to get what should have been delivered in the first place.

It is no secret why PowerDNN, one of the major DNN hosting companies, no longer offer ASPDNSF for their eCommerce packages.  They told me the product was buggy and impossible to support.

You are earning distrust and disregard - is this your intension?  If there were any viable option to your Storefront I would be using it and so would many others - we are all hoping someone steps up to the plate soon.

Can you tell me this?  I paid for a functioning version of your software.  Will you deliver this for the purchase price that I have already paid?

I never used ASPDNSF but for my 2 cents, for a $1450 product, it should just work and work right all the time and get frequent reliable updates. It will piss me off if I pay that much and I have constant issues.

I would appreciate it then if you could take the time to update everyone here on the current status of this.

Your letter that you submitted to me was received around 8:00 PM Eastern (taken directly from the letter - Posted on: 27 Jan 2009 08:10 PM) after business hours.  I responded to you within an hour (Posted on: 27 Jan 2009 09:01 PM) to see if we could get on a phone call to go over your issues rather than going back and forth electronically.  You didn't respond, so I again responded the following day (Posted on: 28 Jan 2009 04:39 PM) providing you with additional instructions and assistance and you still have not responded, but instead posted here after I've made 2 attempts to get back in touch with you.  You were using several DNN available features that the AspDotNetStorefront module will not work with, and you have approximately 20 additional 3rd party modules installed which you claim "work very well"...but AspDotNetStorefront cannot guarantee functionality with all available modules for DotNetNuke.  Attempts to further assist with which modules were causing the issues were met with email auto-responses regarding your vacation schedule.
