I have my DNN installed, everything set correctly according to the documentation, and a site even shows up.  I can add/edit/delete users.  I can change the logo.  I can even change the layout, what modules are visible, etc.  But I can't add any content to the modules.

Example: http://dnn.northminster-indy.org
You will see the errors.  Something interesting, as admin, the home page looks like this: (screenshot)
And as "host" it looks like this: (screenshot) - with a little more detail

I would love some help with this, and can give you an account if you want to get in, and see any settings.  I originally thought maybe there was a setting somewhere that allowed the admin to turn the ability to add new content on and off- but if there is I sure don't know where it is.  My SQL server is obviously running correctly, and I assume permissions are good too, because it installed itself form the install.aspx page.  The error that comes up when you attempt to add content, is identical to the error seen by the host, and listed below-

The error detailed for one particular module is:
Error: Announcements is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(String connectionString, String spName, Object[] parameterValues) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.SqlDataProvider.GetAnnouncements(Int32 ModuleId) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.AnnouncementsController.GetAnnouncements(Int32 ModuleId) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.Announcements.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Failed to mention this:  Here is a portion of my Web.Config, I am using SQL 2005 Express, but the included lines for 2005 express don't work.  So I leave them commented out.  This might be part of the problem, but when I use them, the site doesn't load at all.  I have changed the actual data for user ID, server name, db name, and password for this post.  That is not the issue.

<connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express -->
        <!--
       <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
        -->
        <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->

    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=servername;Database=database name;uid=user id;pwd=password;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  </connectionStrings>

  <appSettings>
        <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->
    <!--
        <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>
        -->
        <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->
        <!--
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=servername;Database=databasename;uid=userid;pwd=password;"/>
    -->
        <add key="InstallTemplate" value="DotNetNuke.install.config" />
        <!--  Alternative Install Templates (included in package)
        <add key="InstallTemplate" value="Club.install.config" />
        <add key="InstallTemplate" value="Personal.install.config" />
        <add key="InstallTemplate" value="SmallBusiness.install.config" />
        -->
        <add key="AutoUpgrade" value="true" />
        <add key="InstallMemberRole" value="true" />
        <add key="ShowMissingKeys" value="false" />
        <add key="EnableWebFarmSupport" value="false" />
        <add key="EnableCachePersistence" value="false" />
        <add key="InstallationDate" value="3/23/2006" />
  </appSettings>

I am assuming that this is a DNN 4.x install?

There are two connection string settings in the web.config file, one for:
<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->

And another for:
<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->

Make sure that both of them are set correctly for your database.

Awesome!  I guess I thought I didn't need the "legacy" option, because this is a fresh install, and that sounds like something you use during an upgrade perhaps.  Thanks for your help and fast response!
