I want to put links to some files in my site.  I want everyone to be able to see the links, but I'd like only special roles to be able to view the files.

If I protect the directory in which the files reside, then other users get a "you do not have permission" message if they click to view the file.  What I would like to happen in this case is for the user to be redirected to the login page.

Is this possible?  How?

maybe this is a way, have 2 pages, 1 with links, but these links will describe the file but point to the secure page, and on the secure page have links to the actual files to download. kinda double handling but it should work.... hope it helps
