Hello,

BackupNative 3.1.0 (FREE and PRO edition) was released (on Oct-20-2008, but coudn't post here 'till now...). You can download it from http://www.evotiva.com/Downloads/tabid/54/Default.aspx

BackupNative FREE edition allows you to perform a native database backup. If the database and web servers are the same box, it also allows you to compress (ZIP) the backup file and download it (compressed or not).
BackupNative  PRO edition allows you to perform a full site backup: the database (native backup) plus all files and folders on the site (including \portals, \bin, \desktopmodules, web.config file, etc.). With proper rights it also allows you to restore database backups. The backup can be scheduled, among other options (see details).

BackupNative is best suited when the database and the web server are the same machine.

Note: BackupScript is other module (not this). It can backup/restore a DNN site with no need of a 'native' database backup. It is best suited for most ISPs, where the database and web servers are not the same. it is also useful for other tasks beyond site cloning. e.g. you can customize the backup file and be able to restore individual tables, you can customize the created scripts, you can dump your data and do an easy search for any text in any table without any special requirment on the sever, etc.

BackupNative 3.1.0: What's new?

Many settings added. Among others:

- support for big backup zip files (> 2Gb)

- FTP 'push' of backup files

- the module can backup to any folder (outside the web root)

etc. (all settings here)

Thanks,

H.-

Hi,

I've been looking for a good backup solution for some time. How does your solution stand out from the rest?.

BackupNative:

* 'real' sql server backup files  - not for all ISPs -

* SQL server restore - not for all ISPs -

* full portal backup files (with many options, including add 'external' folders too)

* ftp 'push'

BackupScript:

- on any ISP -

* saves all (schema + data) as standard (human readable) .sql scripts

* restore from scratch, with with no help from ISP and with no DNN running (just a blank database and an 'empty'/blank web site

* full portal backup files (with many options, including add 'external' folders too)

* ftp 'push'

* due to ist nature (.sql scripts) can be used for other things besides just backup/restore/clone a site

I can confirm that Horacio's support is very good - I identified some issues in the last version (I am good at that ;) and they were fixed quickly. I am running a schedule backup on PokerDIY and it seems to be working well. (I admit I have not yet tried a full restore but this is only because of lack of time - naughty naughty)
