I have installed DNN 3.2.2 on W2K3 machine with IIS 6.0 using SQLServer Express, with Dot Net 1.1

I have configured the web config to point at my database - ie

  <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Machine name\SQLEXPRESS;Database=blar;uid=blar;pwd=blar" />

When I navigate to my DNN directory I get the error

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Keyword not supported: 'machine_name\sqlexpress;database'.

What have I done wrong ????

TIA

your syntax i think looks incorrect:

try the following:

in web config, your connection string should be something like the following:

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;uid=dnnuser;pwd=somepassword;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|database.mdf;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

after this, run as follows:

http://localhost/YOURWEBDIR/install/install.aspx?mode=install

HTH

Still having problems

I am wondering does DNN 3.2.2 run against and SQLServer Express (I am using the 1.1 .net framework)

Your connection string uses name and connectionString, which I believe are what the 4.0.2 web.config file uses. If I use your connection string it says "Required attribute Key not found"

I then changed it to key and value ie

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User

Instance=True;uid=blar;pwd=blar;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|blar.mdf;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

and it says Unrecognized attribute 'providerName'
I then took the attribute providerName off and I got the error

System.ArgumentException: Keyword not supported: '.\sqlexpress;database'.
Can anyone help please - am I OK using .NET 1.1 with SQLServer Express

How about this one:

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=.\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=blar;uid=blar;pwd=***;" />

where *** represents the database password. Note that there should not be any quote characters in the value string other than the one before Server and the one after the ending semicolon.
