Thats great - another useful feature would be an email confirmation when a task executes. I plan on running some general mainenance scripts (like fixing the Country issue I have in another thread) once a month and I will forget about it so I want to be able to set up an email report to be reminded when the task executed and how many records were affected...

Another use would be for this scenario here.

Rodney and everyone,

This is on my task list for my next community module distribution.  I hope to get something out there within the next week to two weeks.  Unless someone wants to sponsor some of the development for me to get it higher up in the queue.

My planned feature set is as follows and it will be a FREE module for use.

  • Ability to schedule and execute multiple SQL Tasks (Call stored procedure, or Execute SQL Script)
  • Ability to send e-mail notification after execution (Always or only on failure)
  • Ability to execute a default, "Performance Script", which will perform routine database calls to improve site performance (eventlog etc).

It will be a service, with an associated configuration module, only available to the host to view.

Please send any feedback or requests to msellers@iowacomputergurus.com

SQL Schedulers seem to be all the rage this time of year - OnyakTech has announced one too.

Enhancements for SQL modules - I would like to see the following feature:

I have a admin stored procs that I run every couple of days on demand (ie. not scheduled). For example, I have never been able to delete users on PokerDIY, so I wrote a stored proc that takes in a user name ([SmartThinker_Site_DeleteUser_WithDependancies]) and I run this when I need to delete a specific user.

It's a pain opening up SQL Query Analyser each time, so it would be cool to have a UI (a bit like the SQL page under Hosts) that can run a specific stored proc (with textboxes for each input param). You could then save and name it, so I would have this SQL job as "Delete a User" and I could click on it and enter the user name and it would execute and show the results.

I think this would be a good addition to a SQL module...
