If i were to build a simple dynamic site in PHP/mysql for a client who just wanted to change their own content by logging in to admin and going crazy, is it a lot simpler to use DNN and produce the whole site than do it myself manually with my limited PHP/sql knowledge?  I just heard about DNN so I jsut wanted an overall consensus from you guys, thanks!

It sure would be, but if you need to use PHP there are portal applications that run on PHP and MySQL while DNN runs on the microsoft .net framework and MS SQL Server.

Depends on what "limited" means and whether or not you want to code.  There are ASP.NET and PHP portal applications available that require no coding, such as DotNetNuke.  You just need to look at the options to see what might be right for you.
