Hi folks

My site (www.yalaword.net) seems to be running very slowly at present. My host (PowerDNN) have tested it (via speedtest.powerdnn.com) and tell me that it is returning 6.473s initial load time, and 3.813s on the repeat load. My check is about the same.

It certainly doesn't seem lightening fast to me.

There is not much on this home page (I am using the new minimalist skin).

What sort of speeds should I be expecting?

What's best practice for DNN? What's considered satisfactory on other sites?

Regards

Geoffrey

The performance of the page is not that bad, there are a few options to improve:

  • use a more liteweight menu, solpart is not developed any longer
  • check cache settings in Host settings and module settings on each page

Some of the initial performance limitations are caused by javascript loaded by DotNetNuke, especially Microsoft ASP.Net - but this is always the constraints you have to live with if using a framework instead of plain HTML.

Hi Sebastian

Thanks for the reassurance.

Heavy caching has helped.
