I'm very, very much a novice in building any kind of website, but I've got one built that I think will work for me for my current purposes.

What I've done is simply installed DNN version 4.9 (or whatever is the current one you'd download right now).  I opened it in Visual Web Developer Express and started editing the DNN site that opened.  I deleted all the content and links and enentually just deleted all the modules so I could start from scratch.  Then I simply added modules and added content to create what I want.

The skin I'm using is the one that was being used for the default DNN site I started with - "MinimalExtropy".  I'm okay with it except for the RED menu highlighter, I'd like to change it from red to another color.

So my question is - Can anyone please tell me how to do that???

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

John

Maybe this will help spark an idea for someone...

Here's a section of code in the menu.css file under the default/skins directory

.main_dnnmenu_rootitem_selected

> {

> color:#ffffff;

> font-weight:bold;

> text-align:center;

> font-size: 13px;

> line-height:40px;

> padding:12px 12px 12px 12px;

> background:url(../images/menu_hover.gif) repeat-x top left;

> text-transform:uppercase; margin-right:1px;

Sorry it didn't post with very good formatting.  Anyway, I read this to say that the background on the text on a selected menu option was rendered using the file found at .../images/menu_hover.gif.  When I looked at this gif file, it was one pixel wide and it was exactly the color and shading of the menu highlighter that I'd like to change.  I edited this file to the colors I wanted and saved it, but it didn't work.  The highlighting on the hovered and selected menu options are still the same red.  Thus, I guess I'm looking in the wrong place for what needs to be edited.  Does this help anyone get an idea of how I can get this changed?  Thanks,

John

I got it.  Not sure what I did to make it work, but I got it to work.  I thought I had the right gif file, but somehow I was no recompiling or debugging or whatever to make the change take it.  No need to reply unless you can tell me what I did after I changed the gif file to get it to "take hold".  Thanks.
