How exactly do you install DotNetNuke? I dont understand the instructions. I thought it was like PHPNuke where you just upload the files to your server and configure it from there.

I have basically the same questions as him but was unable to find an answer to my specific question. I didn't want to start a new thread, though. Like him, I have experience installing PHP applications to web sites and thought DNN was similar.

My web site is hosted by 1and1 Internet. All the documentation and instructions I looked at made it seem like I was installing and running this whole thing off my machine, and to my untrained eyes it seemed like it would not work with a remote web-hosting service like 1and1. Can you maybe explain this a bit to me, or point me toward resources that would answer my question?

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. It looks like the tutorial assumes you are going to run DotNetNuke on your machine and you have to set it up like a visual web developer project. The forum site you mentioned assumes you are using Visual Studio (or Visual Web Developer). I've yet to see the videos from traincert.com (downloaing them at the moment)though. Isn't there an easy way to install it without going through visual studio?
