It might not be too hard to modify it so that it can install our existing Modules and Skins.

Having another platform to install our extensions on would be nice. ;)

I love that idea!!

When I look through the code of my DNN modules, 20%+ of the code are calls to the DNN API (things like "NavigateURL" and "IsInRole"). Also the DNN module installer is important to the deployment of modules.

Will it be possible to handle all these things?

Personaly I had tryed to implement some new features in DNN to faster adopt what is happening out there. First of all I had done the following.

Implemented a webservice who module developer could adapt(webserver extention) for ther modules. This first for Silverlight. (Amazing product by the way).

Adapted Linq to SQL (time to get rid of object q ?)

I could add a few other things but those two I had started with.\

I can add Windows Workflow, Microsoft Charting controls, Reporting Services...

I think what is important is DNN does not prevent you from using any of this. Over the years I have seen that the Core is very sensitive to any issue where DNN is considered to be "hindering progress".

I think DNN will allow you to use all the latest "goodness" out there. I planned to do a Azure DNN module but I am still waiting for my Azure developer token...
