Thanks, Mike.  After a few necessary changes to permissions, etc.  I was able to make the backup, which I was told would be able to be restored to SQL 2005 at Network Solutions, however now I'm learning that you cannot restore a 2008 SQL backup to 2005 SQL (without scripting).  I created a script with Mgt Studio, but I'm not sure what to do with it.  I sent a copy of the script to Network Solutions to see if they could run the script on the file and get it to work.  At this point, I'm frustrated and clearly would have been better off either choosing a different host or just building the site over again from scratch.  Chris at Network Solutions has been great and so has another support person there that Chris has put me in contact with, but this has been many hours with nothing to show for it for me.
