I'm hoping someone can help us out. Our web site is:

http://www.fathers-resources.com

we have a blog with its own URL hooked to redirect to the blog. It is:

http://www.divorced-dad-daily.com

We want to have control over how the URL is created in the blog so we can do SEO on our URL to make them keyword specific.

Is it possible to do this?

Is there an upgrade we can get?

Is there one planned?

Any ideas what it would take to do this in terms of cost if we hired someone at Scriptlance.com to implement it?

Can it be done without losing current blogging content?

Any info will be deeply appreciated...

Thanks in advance for all and any assistance.

You could add http://www.divorced-dad-daily.com as a portalalias to the www.fathers-resources.com.  Point the DNS entry for dad-daily to the srever running fathers-resources.com and get rid of the redirect.

That way if someone clicks the dad-daily.com from a link the whole site remains with that url and if they visit fathers-resources.com then that is the url.

You will have to handle the redirect to the blog page somehow though.

Thanks, I'll have our tech guy look at it.

However, what I'm getting at is this: I write a blog entry and a URL is automatically created by the software.

http://www.fathers-resources.com/Blog/tabid/581/EntryID/229/Default.aspx

I want to be able to have some control over the URL so I can name it like this:

http://www.fathers-resources.com/Blog/tabid/581/EntryID/229/now-opposes-shared-parenting-in-new-york Default.aspx

or something similar...

This particular strory is about the New York President of N.O.W. opposing the shared parenting bill in the New York legislature.

If I create a consistent URL, headline and seed the keyword appropriately, the consistency of these elements indexes better.

We can't currently re-name the URL in the software. So I'm hoping there is an upgrade,  module, ideas I can apply, before turning to a programmer to script such a thing.

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks again (and in advance....)

Danny

I think you might be out of luck there.  Check on snowcovered there might be a module that could do that for you but with the was DNN is designed I don't know if it's possible to change the actuall name of the page.

Everything uses Default.aspx and that page has all of the code to render the modules.  It is possible to change everything else though so your url would look something like:

http://www.fathers-resources.com/Blog/tabid/581/EntryID/229/now-opposes-shared-parenting-in-new-york/Default.aspx

Which to the search engines means pretty much the same thing. At least to Google and MSN anyway.  Look on Hans-Peters site or on Snowcovered for a module called textinjector or something along those lines.

Have a look at http://www.inventua.com/dnn-hrefexchanger.content. I havn't tried it with a blog page, but it works well with basic DNN pages.
