If you use the default skin for example, th eskin has a [FILE] tag, but this seems to be required (i.e. every entry needs a file uploaded/attached). Is there a way to make this optional, so that you can choose to add an entry without an attached file?

Thanks, TJ

The short answer is no. Not without changing the template so that it doesn't include the [FILE] tag. I'm curious as to why you would want the file to be optional?

I'm using the module as a simple listing of restaurants etc. in the area, attaching a menu if we have one we can scan. So basically, some have an attached pdf of the menu, and others don't.

Now I understand and that's a great use for the Repository. I've added it to Gemini as an enhancement (http://support.dotnetnuke.com/Default.aspx?p=22&i=2749).  Without knowing the ratio of have menus to don't have menus a possible workaround would be to upload the menus to a location on the server using the File Manager and then linking to the menu in the Description, using one of the other default templates, or creating your own. Off the top of my head and without testing I think you might be able to modify the directory template to accomplish this.

There doesnt seem to be a way for me to comment directly on the enhancement case, so i'll put it here.

In my case, i have a repository of scripts (which are simple text files) that can be uploaded and shared between users. Ideally, I want to allow users to view & edit scripts directly in a standard DNN Rich Text Editor instead of having to upload the files separately. As far as I can tell, there isnt any way to do this currently.

So could you:
a) add my support to the case to make File Upload optional.
b) create a new ENH case to allow the admin to optionally display a new rich text field called "Document" or somesuch to save & edit documents directly, rather than having to upload them?

thx
Steve
