The German translations for DotNetNuke 5.0.0 are now available for free download from the web site of the German DotNetNuke user group (free registration required), in versions for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Language packs for core only have been created using the new extension generator and can be installed using "install language pack" in Host :: Languages. Due to generator still being under construction, full language packs can be provided as plain zip archive of language files only. for installation simply unzip all files hierarchically into the root of your DotNetNuke web site. Next "create" the language in Host :: languages using Name "Core_de-DE" and any friendly name and description as well as Version 5.0.0. In the next step select language and English as fallback and complete the wizard. Done. I apologize for this inclonvenience. (This nicely reminds to the old days of first localization in DNN 3.0, doesn't it? ;) )

Note, that in any case DotNetNuke 5.0.0 requires you to enable languages for each portal manually: enter Admin :: Extensions (admin:: Languages is currently not supported), select the appropriate core language file and check the option "enabled". We still look forward to UI improvements.
