I agree - it's one of the items intended for the wiki (once it goes live), to ensure we can update content quickly when necessary.

Cathal,

I had given up on ever seeing an official DotNetNuke Wiki. Imagine my surprise -- and a pleasant one at that -- to see your comment about a forthcoming DotNetNuke Wiki. Can you fill us in on the progress (or point me to a thread if there is one) and timing?

Thanks,

Steve

Stephen,

for a time we experimented with the dotnetnuke wiki, but it's still a little "young" and misses features such as delegated authentication, rollbacks, transclusion, discussion etc. I experimented with a few .net wiki's and like the look of screwturn (http://www.screwturn.eu/Wiki.ashx) . At the minute the proposal is to either write an authentication provider (so that you can use your existing dotnetnuke account to add content), or else we'll port our user list to active directory - i'll probably take this on as I've been a longtime proponent of wiki's for both core and community contributed documentation.

This is part of a larger effort around documentation where we'll be creating a documents library/msdn type documentation , as well as working on updating the dnn api documentation. Whilst the plans aren't secret by any means, the scope, resources and timelines aren't in place yet, so we've not been talking about them much (though this was discussed at both openforce conferences) - i'm sure once plans firm up there will be blog posts detailing this.

Cathal

Cathal,

At the risk of morphing this thread to discuss Wikis, I see what you mean about the screwturn Wiki. It looks very feature-rich.

I've been waiting for such a DNN Wiki module (core or third-party) to come along for going on three years now. We can use it for a nonprofit-community project I have in mind. I'm not giving up on a DotNetNuke module as feature-rich as the screwturn Wiki, but I'd sure like to get moving on installing a Wiki for our site. This makes me realize that it's time to just get on with it by installing a non-DNN Wiki.

I'm not a coder but I'd be willing to toss in some dough to cover some of your time, if you could write the authentication provider sooner rather than later, and help me get it up and running on our site. The authentication provider could then be employed for the DotNetNuke Wiki you mentioned, and also donated to the community for others to use, if that's what you'd want to do. Let me know if this is of interest.

Steve

Steve, I can't put any firm timeline on it, as i've other core duties such as security that take precedence, but I'm hoping to do it during Q1 next year.
