I am using DNN 4.3.7; Announcements 3.3.5; and news feed 3.1.1.

Where do I find the location in the source code of the announcements module to prevent the rss xml from rendering with cropped descriptions? Where is the description length being set? We want to show the entire description.

Thanks!!

An additional piece of info...is it the scheduler task that is cropping this?? I am trying to step through the source to find where to make modifications. I still need to find a solution to this issue. Thank you.

Dawn,

I've looked through my code archive, and I don't really have that version of the Announcements module.  However, in an older version I did find an example of how it was done in another older version, which has the subroutine GetSearchItems (it implements the IsSearchable interface) and dated 11/17/2004. If you have the source code open up the AnnouncementsController.vb, find this function 'GetSearchItems', and in that code you might find something like this example:

                    Dim strDescription As String = HtmlUtils.Shorten(HtmlUtils.Clean(System.Web.HttpUtility.HtmlDecode(.Description), False), 100, "...")

That's where the code is shortening the length of the description to 100 characters.  In the newer version there is a module setting that makes changing this length easier, but from what you've said, the version of DNN you are using does not support the newer version.

Hope that helps,

Cheers
