I am getting this same error - I just attempted installing and have gotten several errors which I resolved with the assistance of the info here but I get object reference not set to an instance of an object

DNN version 4.9.1

I am using SQL 2008 and set up the database

I created the Virual directory in IIS - ensured it was using 2.0xx -

I found an error in which I had to move the DotNetNuke.config file to the root.

now I get this error with this stack trace:

[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule.RewriteUrl(HttpApplication app) +347
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule.OnBeginRequest(Object s, EventArgs e) +1562
   System.Web.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +68
   System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +75

Any suggestions?

Did you upgrade your DNN installation recently? There is a known issue with older DNN 4.5.0 and earlier installations that shows up during post upgrade. We need more info to help you though.

This is my first experience with DNN and a new install.  I was able to work thru this issue by giving ASPNET permission to the virt folder.

My next issue is my db connection.  In the InstallWizard it wants to know the credentials for the database that I set up (DotNetNuke).  The security is Windows Integrated and uses my user acct.  When I test the connection it states that ASPNET cannot login.  Well that is true since ASPNET is not a user in my database nor am I able to add it since it is a system acct.  If I uncheck the box for Integrated Security then it wants a username /pswd which there isn't one.  I am also using SQL 2008 if that matters any.
