I copied the DNN Blue - Image Header White Background container and created a new one called DNN Blue - Image Header White Background No Footer.  I simply removed the table row that contains the command buttons and blue line.

The problem I am encountering is that when I apply the new container as the Portal Container it also removes the footer in the admin interface, even though I still have that container set up to the original.  Any thoughts on why this may be?  Are there any ideas on how to hide the container footer except for when an admin is logged in?

Hi -

I read your post twice and I think I understand what's going on.  There are two container settings under Admin -> Site Settings page: "Portal Container" is the normally-used container, "Admin Container" is used only in Admin mode.

To clarify, whenever you login as Host or Admin you not presented the Admin-mode container, but the Portal container with the Edit and Settings ActionButtons enabled. This is by design. The Admin container, on the other hand, is presented whenever an Admin page is displayed (like the Site Settings page, the Register page, etc.) or whenever a module is displayed all by itself for editing. Again, by design.

Now, I'm having trouble understanding why you want to remove the buttons and have them only displayed for Admins, when this can be set in Permissions...

Hope this helps

Thanks for responding Sam.  I think I need to clarify.

I know that I can turn off the buttons in the container (e.g. - disable printing).  My issue is that there is still a blue bar there with a bit of whitespace even when all of the buttons are disabled.  I still want the command bar to be there when in administrative mode so the administrators have quick access to the "Add Announcement", "Add Link", Settings, and so forth.  Any thoughts on how to accomplish this?

I tried wading through the documentation and looking at some of the modules I've installed to see how they suppress certain features when you are not in administrative mode, but I can't find anything.  Is there a certain function or property I can look at to determine what the role of the current user is?

I'm at work, so I don't have access to my dev installation - but you might try this:

Edit the container .ascx file -

remove this code: <HR class="containermaster_blue">

and add: style="border-collapse:collapse" to the end of the table line immediately below it, like this:

<TABLE width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse:collapse">

Refresh the browser to check. If that doesn't help, you might try adding height="0" to the table line...
