We are noobs to the DNN product and learning quickly. We have a client that has been left high and dry with a DNN installation that is now unreachable. The client was able to provide a backup of the site but does not know what version DNN was installed. We have installed v4.09 on our hosting site, restored the db and see there are errors reading the db. This leaves us to believe the backup is not 4.09 but we do not know what version is it or how to tell. Can anyone give us a hand. Please feel free to send email to support@nowirz.com.

thx. Jim

There is a Version table in the database that you can query to see what version the database is.  For the website, you should be able to look at the file properties on DotNetNuke.dll to see its version.

Hope it helps,

If the website is a higher version that the database, then the database should automatically upgrade to the website version.  If that isn't happening, it's probably a connection issue, rather than a version issue.  You should double check your connection strings, and the object qualifier in the web.config.

What errors are you seeing, exactly?  That will help us understand what possible causes the problem might be.

Hope that helps,
