I just upgraded my DNN from version 4.8.1 to 4.9.1 on Sunday, January 11, 2009.  The upgrade went smoothly (running on Windows Server 2003 with a seperate SQL 2003 backend).  I love some of the new things I'm finding in DNN 4.9.1 and am looking forward to upgrading to DNN 5.0 in the very near future.

One problem has come up since the upgrade though.

Prior to my upgrade I was able to create child portals without any problems.  Today when I tried to create a child portal, I get a message that says "Error Creating Portal" with no other information available.  Nothing shows up in the DNN Event Logs.  Nothing is showing up (that I can tell) in the server side logs.  A folder for the desired child portal isn't being created in the website root.

I really need to get this child portal created and am not sure where to start looking in order to troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks in advance for any help!

make sure, "Network Service" has create directory permission in the root of your installation directory.

Sebastian,

Network Service account has full control for the root of my installation directory and still am unable to create new child portals.

Thanks,

Ezara/Laell

I'm also having this trouble.  The attempt created a log entry in the application log that states:

Exception message: Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.GetHostSettings'.

GetHostSettings is there, but it's prefixed with 'dnn_' .  I created a 'GetHostSettings' sp without the dnn_ prefix, but am still getting the error.  However, the newest error is not being logged in the app event log.

Hmmm...

Kevin please start your own thread as this is a different issue. Better still, you might want to search other threads first for your error message and piggy back on threads on that describe your exact issue.
