IFrame is cool. Is it possible to have multiple IFrames that can interact with each other, just like classic frames?

eg. two classic frames

<frame name="tree" scrolling="auto" src="blank.html"/>
<frame name="main" scrolling="auto" src="login.aspx"/>

the login.aspx page would submit a form:

<form action="/TreeOpen.aspx" method="post" target="tree">

that has a target="tree".

Is this possible with IFrame? If not, maybe it could easily be implemented? Take the IFrame's name as the target name?

Interesting... Nobody's ever asked for something like this before. Odd, considering it's the natural way for iframes to work. Actually, you can get this to work with the current setup. It may seem a little odd, tho. First, set the Title of the target IFrame. Then, simply use that value as the target for your links (and whatever else) and it'll work. I really like this idea and will try to make it more apparent for the next release. I'm glad you brought it up, because I think I may have inadvertantly disabled that with my last updates.

I tried this and it didn't work... in DNN2.1.2. Was it implemented in DNN3?

So just to recap, a HTML or Web Form post to IFrame and that IFrame module will refresh with new page?

Ah, that's the problem. I'm using DNN3/4. I don't have DNN2 installed anywhere, so I can't test that. My assumption would be that it works, tho, but I can't guarrantee that.

View the source of the page with the IFrame and look for the <iframe> tag. See what the name property has in it. This is the target you will use for links and what-not.

I am currently developing modules for DNN 2.1.2. I want one module to be a like a Windows Explorer-type interface, listing folders & files, while other . When user clicks on a file, then it posts the filename to a specific module (view). Hopefully I could use IFrame as the container/view of my other pages/modules? So I have a main view (using IFrame), and it dynamically loads different modules by user file-loading clicks.

1. Can IFrame show a DNN module? As a self-contained page in an IFrame? And support drag'n'drop from-&-to the IFrame?
