There is a Capital DotNetNuke User Group meeting being held on 1/21/09 @ 7:00 PM till 9:00 PM EST

Location: 1900 Gallows Road, Vienna, VA 22182

Presenter: Joe Brinkman

This weeks meeting is focusing on the use of JQuery in DotNetNuke development. See the synopsis below for more details. Mark your calendars and I hope to see you there!

Over the last few years, with the adoption of AJAX and RIA frameworks, JavaScript has taken on added importance in the development of web applications. jQuery is one of the leading JavaScript frameworks and greatly simplifies JavaScript development. Microsoft’s recent announcement about adopting jQuery as a standard part of the ASP.Net platform prompted the DotNetNuke team to make the commitment to improve jQuery support within the platform.

In this presentation, we will provide a brief overview of jQuery and look at how we can leverage it in DotNetNuke to improve user interactions. We’ll look at the jQuery support offered in DotNetNuke 5.0 and how we can take advantage of these features in our module and DotNetNuke widget development.

Hey -- any chance that someone could stick a microphone in Joe's hand, video his presentation and break it up into 10-minutes segments for uploading to YouTube (or wherever)?

In general I'd like to see more DNN-related presentations taped and made available online (freely when possible) to maximize DNN exposure and share valuable development info.  Besides that, it'd be great to see TheAccidentalGeek (Joe) talk about jQuery in DNN.

Since Antonio mentioned that they will be streaming it, I assume that it also will be taped ... and made available later.

And, I have noted that the Will Strohl and ODUG crew have been doing the same.

As for me, I'm just hoping that everyone will have safely gotten out to DC by the time I have to steer around the beltway for the meeting!

Antonio?  Streaming?  I'd previously peeked in on the CapitalDug site for any hint of streaming/recording the upcoming meeting (even of past meetings) but did not see it mentioned.  (To be honest, though, I only looked for a coupe of minutes.)

It was ODUG that gave me the idea to ask about the upcoming CapDUG meeting.  On that same note, many thanks to Will for making the ODUG meetings available via stream.
