Dear all,

I am having problem setting up Blog module, one of the exception blocks is shown below:

Error: Blog is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. Other modules that have the same problem include FAQ module, Usersonline module, Media module and Event module(I can add this module, but if I try to add an event or any other functions, the same exception throws). The rest of all modules installed are working, e.g. forum module.

The DNN version is 4.8.2, the Blog version is 03.04.00. SQL Server 2005 Express edition is used.

Any idea will be very much appreciated.

Regards

Hi Kingofwebguru,

you should check that both the connection strings in web.config match and are correctly set. This is because the actual module still uses the connection string in the <appsettings> node of the web.config file. I already fixed this in the next version, and in the future you'll need to update the connection string in one only place.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
