Not sure what forum this fits in.  Please move if wrong.

Anyhow I set up a site at dev.mydomain.com, and played around testing and stuff, (DNN5.0 btw), set up the LiveID login and it was super easy.  Now I do have a small problem.

I decided to remove the dev. from my domain, and put www. in place of it.  In order to do so, I had to create a new application ID on the Microsoft's site, hance the old application is no longer.  When I try to log in with the LiveID on the site now, with the new domain name(www.), it asks me to associate my liveid with my DNN account. (are you seeing where I'm going :-> ).

So, I type in my user ID and password and viola..error and not logged in.

A critical error has occurred.
Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.UserAuthentication' with unique index 'IX_UserAuthentication'. The statement has been terminated.

Now, to go one step further I think...hmm...I wonder where I delete this from(besides the SQL table)...no option to change association on this screen.  so I click home, and click login again, and I'm taken right back to the page to associate my windows live.  Close the IE tab and reopen, same thing...I think I actually have to delete the cookies to get rid of this situation and log back in.

Anyhow, in user management there maybe should be a way to de-associate the ID.

<--- Read following section for humor only -->

Now, an additional note from my girlfriend sitting across the room as she is checking out the new windows live features :->.  Use windows live, then register a new account after returning from live.....she went to her user profile page to see if it pulled anything, anyhow, it gives her the option to change a password that doesn't exist(IE when she registered, she didn't need a password, now she needs her old password to create a new password)..

Anyhow just some thoughts.  I prefer not to poke around in SQL if I don't have to, so if there is an easier way to de-associate a single user ID let me know...I"ll poke around the site more and if I find it I"ll let you know!

------EDIT NOTE...

I just heard from a voice across the room "I got my password"...I said "Whaaa??  How'd you do that"....she says, "You emailed it to me" haha.

Thanks

Josh

Hi Josh,

I'll have to see if I can figure this one out. To the best of my knowledge there's nothing written to the DNN database that ties the LiveID to the user account. My understanding was that it was all on the LiveID side. If I can't figure it out I'll talk to Charles (he wrote the provider) for guidance.

no problem, no rush, just letting you know.  I'm sure there are plenty of other goodies being worked on already.  Let me know if I can help in any way.
