DNN 04.09.00

Where does the Host menus pull its list of items from?  (Or: How does one edit the items shown?)

We've been playing around with different menu modules and some basic skinning on our test server, and had installed a TheDNN.Menu and Sidemenu modules at one point.  We've since removed the module, but no less than 27 new items showed up in the Host tab from this and all of them remained.

Sure, I could just restore a backup to make it all go away, but it would be nice to know the mechanics of it.  I didn't run into anything obvious on a search of the forum, but I may have not had the right keywords. I wish to crush this menu, see it driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of the women.
