I've just started playing around with DNN and love it so far but have a particular client with a specific need so thought I would ask the knowledgable folks here if DNN could do this. Here goes.

This client needs an online newsletter. Thing is, he needs it appear as if it is from 100 or so different agents. Each would gave a custom photo, address, etc. Same design but a small amount of content specific to the agent.

My goal is to set this up so that I could change the main newsletter and it update each agent's page simulaneously. In turn, I want to be able to create one email and have DNN email send out a custom version to each person on that agent's list.

I'm asking a lot of DNN here but am looking for a solution which isn't labor-intensive. Thanks for any feedback given.

Here is a thought for you.

Create a master portal and install a module for the content of the newsletter.  The module you install would need to have RSS availabe.  I would use Ventrian News Articles (www.ventrian.com) or the the core Blog module.  In this master portal you would manage your common content.

Create your first Agent's site.  Get it looking exactly how you want it to look using the RSS NewsFeeds module to put the newsletter content (rss feed from master) onto the Agent's site.  Once you have this portal looking good you can make it into a Portal Template in Host Settings.

Create the rest of your agents sites using the template you just created.  Now you will have 100 independent portals all with the content from the master.

For sending your newletter, you may need to have someone make a module for you.  DotNetNuke may not be the best system for sending large amounts of email, you may want to revert to a mail server with mailing list capabilities or a service like constant contact.  For a talented programmer, it would not be hard to have a module that you install on every portal where the agents can update their own lists.  Now you would have a single table with all the addresses from all the agants and you would also have all the URLs of the portals that own the lists.

I would turn on friendly URLs so that all portals would have the same page names as opposed to tabid.

Thank you for the reply.

Since I am new, I'm going to spend some time getting familiar with what your suggestions mean. In the event I can't figure this out, is there a place I can go to hire individuals to set something like this up for me?

I could help you out with setting up the concept I suggest and teach you.  I can't program worth a hoot, but I usually have a programmer availble to me.  I always try to get things done with existing modules and there might be something adequate for sending your mail already built.  I think my profile has my contact data.
