Cheers,

I'm currently in the process of designing 3 web sites, and looking for a suitable CMS to host them all on a provider with mysql installed.

Looking at the forums and searching, I didnt find any up-to-date reference to mySql, and was wondering if using it under DNN is at all possible?
I know that someone made effort to build a mysql provider, but information is little and I get the feeling my DNN hopes might fade away with no
mySql support.

I'm asking, because it seems strange to me that an important DB as mySql is dumped instead of becoming the standard..

So, any latest word on using mySql with DNN?
Thanks so much!

B

Benny,

AFAIK there is no up-to-date MySQL database provider and be aware, that you would need one for any (packaged or 3rd party) module as well, therefore I suggest to check out options to use free MS SQL Express instead which works fine for small and medium sized web sites.

Thank you Sebastian for your answer, I was afraid the would be it..  :(

The problem is my brinkster hosting package, which contains mySql at this price level. For SQL server I will have to upgrade my account.
I might do that, but first I'll try to look for an alternative (although I really like what dotnetnuke offers..).

Thanks again, and in case someone else knows a free solution/provider with mysql support, please let me know.

Benny

There are plenty of free MySQL based CMS opttions, they just aren't DNN.  Or in many cases. ASP.NET if that's an issue.  If MySQL is your main driving factor in your choice, look at Drupal or Joomla.
