We're developing a set of modules that need to interact with the user.  We're using Telerik's RadGrid and have noticed that if the module is in view mode, the module initially displays correctly, but any attempt to use it (press a button etc) causes the RadGrid control display incorrectly assumably because it's css files are not being loaded.  The control works correctly the user has edit rights to the page or to the module, but we don't want to give the users the right to edit the page, and giving them edit rights on the module displays an edit/view radio button at the top of the page, which when set to 'view' will cause the module to stop working.

Looking for an explination of this behavior and any help with API calls that we can do in the page load to make the module work dyamically in view mode.

BTW the user control is setup to take advantage of Ajax capability with 'Requires Partial Update', but that doesn't appear to have an effect one way or another.

Hey Rich,

Have you tried making sure the module / control cache times are set to 0? Module caching is known to cause some funky behavior on dynamic modules, and also it is ignored if you have edit rights.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Thanks Ian - that's exactly what the problem is.  In researching this some, a module that has dynamic interaction with the user should set the Default Cache Time to -1, which indicates to  DNN that the module doesn't support caching.  Once I set this, its works correctly.

-Rich
