Hi,

I tried upgrading to DNN 5.0 today but things didn't go as planned, I followed the upgrade instructions but after the I fired up the browser all I got was:

A critical error has occurred.
Method not found: 'System.Collections.Hashtable DotNetNuke.Services.Authentication.AuthenticationConfigBase.get_ModuleSettings()'.

Hopefully you have made backups prior to the upgrade as it may be necessary to roll back.

However, the situation may be salvageable. If you received this exception while executing DNN upgrade wizard, this may be a case of missing file due to FTP timeout. I would try re-uploading your DNN 5.0.0 files to the same location and attempting to run the upgrade again.

Your hosting provider might be able to help you with a restore assuming they do backups....

Hi,

I too had painful problems after upgrading to DNN 5.0.0, acouple of suggestions:

1) Copy the new version on top again, make sure all files copy ok.

2) I had problems that related to file permissions in the DNN folder. I reser the permissions so that the NT User Acount used by IIS had the appropriate permissions and my problems disappeared after a reboot.

Not sure what happened, but I suspect the initial DNN install set up permissions, but some new files delivered as part of the upgrade didn't inherit the correct (read) permissions. Anyway, after this it all worked ok.

After checking the permissions I also changed the skins back and forth in an attempt to force a cache update.

3) Clear out you local browser cache.

Hope this assists.

Peter
