Is it possible to edit the font size and amount of distortion in the built-in DNN CAPTCHA control?

I'd say about half the generated texts are hard to read, and at least one distortion method is so grainy it's illegible.   If I could find code and tweak some of the numbers to "ease up" on the fuzz, they'd at least be tolerable.

I'm not concerned about computer readability- we're hammered by the automatic form-spammers constantly, but they're thankfully all retarded ones.  We kept them completely at bay on our old .asp site with a "trapped" field*, but that isn't something I've yet to work into any of the forms modules we're using. (*Just a text box, hidden with the stylesheet. Human users can't see it, robots can. Any text in that box and the whole form is discarded. A painless, unobtrusive, invisible solution that didn't require users to pull out a magnyfing glass and a decoder ring.)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

AFAIK this requires a core code change (and recompile of dotnetnuke library).

Bleh.

I was hoping there were a few variables in a .jb or .ascx file somewhere I could just fool around with.

Just a note:  I did get this working.

The module was calling the DNN captcha, but also had a height|width set in the code for the display.  Part of the distortion seems to have been caused by the re-sizing of the box, and a strange h:w ratio.  Editing it to make the box bigger and slightly taller made things many times better.

Thanks.

Hey,

Could you please post a little more about how you resized the Captcha box - e.g.,what file you edited to accomplish this feat? I've had numerous complaints from users who have to reenter the Captcha text many times before being able to enter the system. Super-huge thanks for your help -- and maybe someone (you?) should blog about this somewhere :o)
