Installing DNN 5, upgrading from DNN4, and I get this:

Compiler Error Message: BC30002: Type 'IDataReader' is not defined.

Source Error:

Line 62:
Line 63: Public MustOverride Sub AddHtmlText(ByVal moduleId As Integer, ByVal desktopHtml As String, ByVal desktopSummary As String, ByVal UserID As Integer)
Line 64: Public MustOverride Function GetHtmlText(ByVal moduleId As Integer) As IDataReader
Line 65: Public MustOverride Sub UpdateHtmlText(ByVal moduleId As Integer, ByVal desktopHtml As String, ByVal desktopSummary As String, ByVal UserID As Integer)
Line 66:

Source File: C:\DNN\App_Code\HTML\DataProvider.vb    Line: 64

Any idea what is going on here?  The site is defined as ASP.NET 2.0, and so on, so it should just work.

First time I've seen this one.
At what stage did this happen?
Which version of DNN 4 are you upgrading from?
Is your SQL server collation set as case insensitive?

I very much recommend waiting for 5.0.1 or even 4.9.2 anyway and going back to your previous version.

I honestly don't remember which particular flavor of v4.  Been using it for some time.

This happened immediately I tried to start the page; didn't display anything except the error.  It had not gotten to the stage of actually running anything visible on the page.  As far as I know the sql server collation is set case insens.

I guess I will back rev it for the moment.

I am getting that error on an upgrade from 5.0 to 5.0.1 .  Ideas?

I got the exact same error when upgrading to 5.01 from 4.09 (I think).  This was totally a problem between the monitor and the keyboard!  Or as we used to call it, "Error #5 - Insufficient User IQ"!

I had an open comment line in the web.config file in the appSettings section.  Here is my error line, yours might be different.

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules

The next line was another commented line and started with <!-- which is not what it expected.

The other interesting thing is that the first error was the one you showed, then after trying a couple of other things, I got an error that pointed to the problem in web.config.

Good luck!
