Hello everyone,

I've been hitting a wall on configuring DotNetNuke the way I want. Here is the scenario of what I want to achieve:

An organization X has several departments. I want to configure DNN so that I have a blog of each department. The main site has sections linked to each blog. The blog is published by the visitors. The purpose of the blog is to have a place where visitors report problems anonymously. Hence, I dont want any registrations and I want users to be able to create posts in those blogs. I dont want them to edit/delete but only post new posts. Anyone can comment on those posts as well. The main site page will have links to each of these blogs.

I'd really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction on this one. If you need clarification or more information please do let me know.

Thanks!
NK

Also, can I have a user group have permission to create new posts? Help please!

NK-
Your description better matches a single, moderated FORUM module rather than a set of individual BLOG modules.  Blogs postings tend to be very user-centric rather than for publishing content by anonymous users.  Blogs also tend to be written and published by the same person and tend to have little or no content moderation ability compared to forums.

A FORUM module offers the ability to divide things up by department (multiple forums), allow anonymous posts, allow moderated posts (very important when you're allowing anonymous posts), provide ability to search, etc.  You can also link directly to a department's forum area without requiring users to first go to the forums list and then pick a certain forum.

ActiveForums has been a popular, affordable choice if you decide to look beyond the core FORUM module included with DNN.

Unless a module specifically has code to support permissions by USER GROUP, you usually have to rely on USER ROLE to assign permissions.  USER GROUPS are not inherently tied to permissions in DNN.

See my recent post here of USER GROUPS versus USER ROLES:

An example of a module that supports action(s) based on USER GROUP is the nifty Dynamic Login module from Data Springs:

mamlin-

Thanks for responding. Forum crossed my mind but my end users aren't computer savvy enough to navigate through the forums. I wanted the front interface to be a flow of posts (like a blog) from all departments (categories) and really simple to post. I don't need the moderation aspects.

I'm from php background and completely new to the asp world. I'm thinking of getting the forum module and revamping the front interface like a blog.
