DNN is the first .net application I have ever installed. I have been using standard ASP for a long time so please bare with me as I need some very basic info.

I have DNN running but every so often I get errors while trying to do various things. The one that is really bugging me is when I go to upload a new skin. I get a message saying folder .../temp/... is missing.

Now I am only assuming but I get the feeling that maybe that temp folder can't be generated because I don't have the right folder security settings set up. Out of desperation on my test box I set full access to the EVERYONE group. That didn't seem to fix it so, can someone tell me exactly what I need to do to get my test box working and then I can finish testing DNN and move it over to my production box?

I have added a couple modules and they went right in but not skins.

I did get a similar error while trying to configure one module but I wasn't worried about it until now.

Thanks so very much!

What operating system is your site running on?

Windows 2000/XP need the ASPNET machine account to have access to the folders (make sure it's the local ASPNET account, not a domain ASPNET account).

Windows 2003/Vista/2008 need the Network Service machine account to have access, assuming you have not customized the identity of the application pool account.

In either case, if you're on a domain, make sure you're using the local account.

Stinking Heck!!!!

I am running Windows 2003 and had the security just fine in the first place. There was a problem with the skin file I was trying to install. It was just giving me a bad error that had me thinking it was a security thing. I tried a couple other skins and it worked fine.

I set my security back to the way I had it before getting all flustered and tried yet another skin and it worked fine.

Thanks for the help.
