I have a custom calculator module that looks up several values in a database and performs various calculations based on those values.  My module has been working fine, but inexplicably the module will  now only work when logged in as an admin.

The first step is to enter in your zip code and then DOB's.  After entering the DOB's the calculator will usually query the database to make a calculation based on the DOB's.  This works fine logged in as admin.  It does not as web user.  The page just reloads and the calculator resets.

All of my page and file permissions appear to be correct.  Could this be a database permission issue?  Wouldn't I receive an error first or when the module loads.  The module checks that all values are available before loading.

Note.  I changed some of the FTP user permissions to allow access to some of these data files.  I couldn't update with basic write permissions.  This is the only thing I have changed before this issue took place.

Stumpped.  Help.

thanks. tom

Accepted Answer

The problem may be as simple as the Cache Time of the module (in module settings) having been accidentally set to a non-zero value which for users without edit permission on the module would cause the output caching to interfere with the control postbacks of an interactive module.

Wow.  Thanks a bunch Bill!  That was it.  I have been pulling my hair out over this one.

The best answers are usually the simplest.

Thanks again. tom
