I have successfully installed many copies of DNN4.x but have had no luck with a fresh (not upgrade) install of DNN5.

IIS6 / Win2003

DNN 5 fresh install

The install goes smoothly through setting up the database and configuration.  When I try to access the site I get the following:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

This is driving me completely nuts and while a search of the forums shows many instances of people getting similar errors they don't seem to be during the install.  This exact same error is thrown when I try to run the site through the Cassini server in my VS2008 as well.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE

Well, I got a successful install but I had to do the install through the Cassini web server in my VS2008.  I'm sure most people are successfully getting DNN5 to install by running the wizard through IIS6.  I'm still interested in anyone's ideas as to why I kept getting the errorthrough IIS6.
