Hi all,

Our office has recently taken over the design of our website from the previous company that initially created it for us, but we are just now learning how to use DotNetNuke.

One of our first projects is that we need to add a page to the website that has a module where there are links to download documents.  This page needs to be secure, so it can only show up in the menu bar once a User has logged into the site.  Does anyone know a good place to go for us to find information for how to create this?

Also - we went to the support area of this DNN site and looked up how to edit a footer, but we're not finding the "Setting" link in the module area for the footer... I'm wondering if we might have an older version of DNN and the place to edit the footer might be somewhere else.  Does anyone know another way to edit footer content?

Thanks so much!

- Lisa

Lisa,

Suggestion #0:  Rush out and purchase a copy of the new book Professional DotNetNuke 5: Open Source Web Application Framework for ASP.NET.  You might also want to get a copy of Professional DotNetNuke 4.

If you set the permissions for a page to be visible to "Registered Users" and not visible to "All Users" then it will be in the menu and be visible only to those who have logged in.

As for your question about footers, is that a footer at the bottom of the page.  You seem to be referring to a module settings footer.  That's a different animal.

Hi Joe!

Thank you so much for the suggestions!

We figured out the secure documents download page, so we are all set to go for that one.  As for the footer, I did confuse that with a Module footer, which is not what we need.  We need to change the Footer of the entire website (and actually the header as well while we are at it because we have a new logo).

I just can find the way to adjust this anywhere!

Adding to Joe's response...

The module you'll be interested in is the "DOCUMENTS" module (in case you hadn't already guessed that).

Regarding the"footer":   The footer could be part of the "skin" for the site or it could be any number of different modules added to the footer area of your site's skin.  If this is a public website you could get more definitive answers if you provide a link to the stie.
