I have developed a module that does not implement IPortable or ISearchable but both of these are checked once the module is packaged and deployed. In my dev environment, the boxes are not checked in the module definition but they are checked after the module is installed on a production box.

Can anyone tell me where I went wrong? I can not find any info on this about turning these off in the definitions.

Thanks,

Jerel

which DNN version are you running?

did you use an existing manifest template or build opackage from scratch?

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I used the 4.9.1 kits and installed on a 4.9.1 installation.

I originally created a WSP package and then switched to a WAP package. I built everything by hand. I added my project to my DEV install and did not choose IPortable or ISearchable when adding the package.

The starter kits include in the controller class sample implementations of both ISearchable and IPortable which I suspect you did not remove when developing your module. If you are not going to implement these interfaces, you may delete their method implementations from the controller class. Don't forget to also remove the lines:

Implements ISearchable
Implements IPortable

from just below the class declaration.

After removing the ISearchable/IPortable implementations from the controller class and recompiling, etc., you will need to go to Hosts -->Module Definitions, open the definition, then click Update. Searchable and Portable should no longer be checked.

OK, that makes sense. I would assume then that it uses reflection to detect these. Since you have to check those boxes when adding the definition to the dev site, I assumed you had to tell it in the .dnn file if it had these interfaces. You know what happens when you assume!

I know I just rem'd the code but the interface is still there. I will remove them all for now as I am not going to impliment search but I will do portable after I get the initial release completed.

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.
