I took a copy of a client's site from the production server and installed it on my dev machine to do some module work.  After dinking around quite a bit I got most of it working.  One annoyance is that the images don't show.  The img tag is formed like this:

<img src="/Portals/0/images/products/small/picture.jpg" alt="Product Image" />

and the image can't be found.  If I update it to:

<img src="/Website/Portals/0/images/products/small/picture.jpg" alt="Product Image" />

we're good.  The site is installed in a subdirectory on my machine called "website".  I don't know if it matters but my Portal Alias is:

localhost:54879/website

Thanks very much,

BK

Hey BKahuna,

If these paths occur in your modules or skins, you'll probably just want to do some ctrl+shift+H (Find and Replace in files) and update the paths. However, if your image paths exist in text/html modules as well - there are a couple of utilities out there to help you find and replace text - like Engage: F3 or the find and replace utility from seablick.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Ian -

Yeah I know I can always go and manually update the path throughout the code.  The problem there is that I'll make the code so it no longer works on the production server.  It isn't too big a deal as I brought the site down to troubleshoot some module issues.  The fact that the image don't display won't keep me from doing that - it would just have been nice to have the site fully work in my dev environment.

Thanks for you idea and replying!

BK

your clients site is install in a root folder, and you're installed in a virtual directory, you will need to install it in a root folder otherwise the relative links will all be wrong (as you're seeing).
