Hi,

I have created a dotnetnuke website <http://www.winjit.com/2009> I need to increase the speed of loading of pages. How do I do that?

One way is to make a complete html application which is static, which is not feasible at this point. Please suggest me some way.

Thank you.

The pages on your site are rather heavy. i tested http://www.winjit.com/2009/Investors.aspx which is 252423 bytes according to http://websiteoptimization.com  You should consider using either less images or make smaller versions of those images.

Good observations, ErikVB.

I went a step further with ErikVB's response and opened and re-saved the main "investers" banner graphic using IrfanView (a freeware graphic view / convert program) at 85% quality.  It still looks great at 85% -- gotta love JPGs!  The banner graphic size dropped from 66520 to a mere 13249.

The other main size offender is the default DNN banner graphic which is not actually used by the "winjit.com" site skin.  This graphic is defined in the PORTAL.CSS file under the class "branding-top" -- the reference to "dnn_large_banner.jpg" should be removed from the class for this portal so ithe image is not needlessly loaded in the background.  That will save you another 67K.

Those two graphic file changes alone will shave 130K off your intitial page load size (after the first page load the graphics should be cached by the client browser).   Or, put another way, it will cut your overall page size in half -- well worth the effort!

Most everything else is ok size-wise.  You could cut down on some CSS and JAVASCRIPT file sizes with the right optimizers (though these would make the code nearly unreadable) but I think they're ok.  Instead I think you should look into PageBlaster and also look into keepalive services that ping your DNN site to keep it from "going to sleep" in between user visits.  You can have incredibly small page sizes but if your DNN site / database is "asleep" and/or not cached it will still take a while to spin up and serve that initial page request.

Good luck!
