Re: repository module on http://SARVAC.ca

Does anyone know if this has been added yet or what the status is?

Using existing files uploaded using file manager instead iof uploading again...

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/54/threadid/142696/scope/posts/Default.aspx

The question from my client is:
Why can I not add to a Repository the files that are already stored on the website in the File Manager? In other words, why must I Upload files to a Repository from my computer's hard drive?

 From Steve Fabian 6/12/07:
It's already logged into Gemini .. actually I think it's in there 2 or 3 times :)

it has been implemented in 3.01.15.  I added two new tokens, URLCONTROLFILE and URLCONTROLIMAGE which you can use in place of the FILE and IMAGE tokens. The two new tokens will allow you to select an existing file on your server instead of having to upload one every time.

Can both be used in the same form.html i.e. have an option to upload or use an existing file?

The new tokens give you the option to upload a new file, or select from an existing file.

Steve, Just FYI:

From my point of view the simple Upload button with NO file picker is a great usability advantage for the common user.  I have dozens of non-techies uploading into the Documents module and it never fails:  They miss that last click to Upload Selected File and guess what...no error....no warning....Their document entry is linked to the wrong file and they have no idea (plus their file was never uploaded).

This is why I switched to your Repository module.....because my non-techie users can't make a mistake when uploading.  Sure, they may upload a file a couple times to 2 different repositories, but who cares....it's easier to use.

Thanks for a great module!
